Michael Goodwin KC represents company director acquitted of business crime offence

Michael Goodwin KC’s client, acquitted of business crime offence at Southwark Crown Court.

This followed a four year investigation by the Met’s complex fraud team into the contractors responsible for fire safety at Grenfell Tower. Michael’s client was one of ten individuals who were prosecuted with bribery, theft and money laundering offences.

Michael’s client was acquitted at Southwark Crown Court before HHJ Gledhill QC.

The case concerned local authority contractors and sub-contractors overcharging for smoke alarm and fire alarms installations across Hackney council’s housing stock, including at Grenfell.

Convictions of other defendants for bribery and theft resulted in substantial prison sentences being passed.
