Michael Goodwin KC has successfully prosecuted 7 defendants who planned & executed a gang related revenge shooting on the King’s Coronation weekend. The triple shooting took place in Peckham, South London.

Following a trial at the Old Baily the defendants were sentenced on 18 October 2024 to more than 100 years in prison.

Michael was instructed to prosecute an eight-handed case of attempted murder and firearms offences arising from a gang-related shooting of three individuals in south London. The case, tried over eight weeks at the Central Criminal Court before the Common Serjeant, involved a gangland attack motivated by retribution for an attempted murder.

The trial concerned a triple shooting that occurred on the King’s Coronation weekend in May 2023. Following the stabbing of an associate in East Dulwich, the defendants executed a coordinated “revenge plan” targeting members of the rival 22 gang. The shootings took place in residential areas of Peckham during daylight hours, involving stolen vehicles and weapons such as a loaded sawn-off shotgun, machete, and zombie knife.

Tyreke Smikle was convicted of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, two counts of wounding with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The remaining defendants were convicted of conspiracy to commit Grievous Bodily Harm, and two further defendants were convicted of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Michael prosecuted the case with Trevor Archer (Red Lion Chambers) and was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
