Michael Goodwin KC has successfully prosecuted 7 defendants who planned & executed a gang related revenge shooting on the King’s Coronation weekend. The triple shooting took place in Peckham, South London.

Following a trial at the Old Baily the defendants were sentenced on 18 October 2024 to more than 100 years in prison.

The case related to a triple gang related shooting on the King’s Coronation weekend in May 2023. Following the stabbing of an associate in East Dulwich, the defendants carried out a “revenge plan” against individuals believed to be members of the south London rival 22 gang. The three shootings took place in Peckham during daylight hours and in residential streets. Stolen vehicles had been used and the group had been armed with weapons including a loaded swan-off shot gun, machete and zombie knife.

Tyreke Smikle was convicted of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, two counts of wounding with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The remaining defendants were convicted of conspiracy to commit Grievous Bodily Harm, and two further defendants were convicted of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Michael prosecuted the case with Trevor Archer (Red Lion Chambers) and was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
