Michael Goodwin KC’s client not guilty of murder
This was a high profile and sensitive case. Following the obtaining of defence psychiatric evidence the prosecution was persuaded to accept that Michael’s client had been acting under a diminished responsibility. A plea to manslaughter was accepted by the prosecution who did not proceed to trial for murder.
On 5 July 2023 the court ordered a hospital order with restrictions for Michael’s client who had left college and stabbed a young man in his own home.
